SRG-00 Grungust Type Zero
The Testla Leight Institue (TLI) was in cooperation with Mao Industries for the creation of the Personal Trooper Series and in the process began their own mobile weapons design line. Impressed by the PTX-002 Gespenst Type Strength’s performance, the TLI decided to expand this concept into a unique series of high performance mobile weapons. Known as the "Super Robot Grungust" series, this line of mobile weapons would be massive embodiments of close combat strength.
Intended as a proof of concept machine, the Grungust Type Zero was the prototype for all future Grungust development. It was decided that the Grungust would be powered by a battleship generator, so its construction was on a massive scale. The completed Grungust would be nearly three times the size of a Personal Trooper. To compensate for its massive size, the Grungust was heavily armored, resulting in a machine that was essentially a walking fortress. Because it is a prototype, the Grungust Type Zero lacks any specialized propulsion system. As a result its entire body is covered in boosters, powered by its oversized generator, in order to allow any aerial or space capacity.
The Grungusts armaments were heavily based on that of the Grungust Type S, with its main weapon being the "Hyper Blaster", an upgraded version of the "Blaster Beam" weapon system installed in the Personal Trooper. Perhaps because leading TLI designer Rob Ohmiya was an adamant fan of Super Robot anime, the Grungust is equiped with the novel "Boost Knuckle" weapon system, in which the Grungust’s lower arm detaches and functions as a rocket propelled guided striking weapon. At the request of its intended pilot Sanger Zonvolt, the Grungust Type Zero is equipped with an oversized sword known as the Zankantou (Colossal Blade). This sword is so large that it requires its own rocket propulsion system to allow it to maintain balance. Because of its massive size combined with Sanger Zonvolt’s skill as a samurai, few things can withstand the force of being struck by this blade. Only the Giganscudo and a handful of alien machines can claim to have survived a direct hit from it.
